So here is my verdict, after reading all the horror stories. Surely, Cipro can cause some side effects, but I did not have them. It is very good for treatment of UTIs, I felt fine the whole course of treatment.

My only complaint is that the Cipro tablets didn't work as fast as I would like. It took 12 days for the symptoms of the skin infection to completely disappear.

I'm on day 5 of a 14-day treatment course. I'm taking Cipro 500 mg tablets twice a day. The first 3 days I was sick in the morning. On day 5, the nausea subsided, and I felt much better.
